Faculty Development Committee

Purpose

The function of the Faculty Development Committee is to work with the Office of Academic Affairs in providing for the professional development of the faculty.

Responsibilities

  1. Update and disseminate guidelines for faculty development grants.
  2. Solicit applications for faculty development grants.
  3. Review grant applications and make recommendations for funding to VPAA.
  4. Review sabbatical applications and make recommendations based upon guidelines and recommendations.
  5. Plan and coordinate workshops/opportunities related to all facets of faculty professional development throughout the academic year.

Membership

The committee is consists of three faculty members:  at least one from liberal arts divisions/schools and at least one from professional divisions/schools.  A representative from the Office of Academic Affairs will be appointed as a non-voting member to facilitate communication on faculty development initiatives.  This representative will not participate in meetings regarding recommendations for faculty development grants and sabbaticals.
