Committee Membership and Voting Rights
Each term of service for a faculty governance committee extends from July 1 to June 30, unless otherwise specified in the Faculty Bylaws. Under ordinary circumstances, and excluding committees requiring divisional/school representation, faculty may serve no more than six consecutive years on any one committee. They must be off the committee for two years before starting again.
No more than fifty percent of the faculty membership on any committee should be from one division/school.
The President and Vice President for Academic Affairs are ex officio members of all faculty governance committees, except for the Academic Standards and Promotion and Tenure committees, whether or not specifically listed as such.
Governance committees follow Robert’s Rules of Order. Accordingly, both committee Chairs, ex officio members, and student members may vote, unless specified otherwise.
For all faculty governance committees, a quorum shall be required for voting purposes. A quorum is defined as the presence of two-thirds of all members of said committee, excluding the President and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
