Governance of the College

The College is governed by the Board of Trustees. As the legal governing body, the Board of Trustees is the final institutional authority responsible for the property, resources, and programs of the College for which it articulates general policies and goals. All academic degrees awarded by the College are granted by the Board of Trustees, upon the recommendation of the faculty.

The Mount Saint Mary College Bylaws establish the President of the College as the executive agent of the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer of the College. The President thus has the responsibility and authority to supervise administrators and faculty. Unless by specific directive of the President of the College, the proper channel for communication between the Board of Trustees and officers of administration and faculty of the College is through the President of the College.
