Committees that Are Volunteer
Faculty Representatives to Board of Trustees Committees
Purpose
Each committee established by the Board of Trustees includes at least one non-voting faculty member. Each year the chair of Committee on Committees will consult with the Secretary to the Board or the President's office to determine vacancies. The chair of Committee on Committees will consult with the At-Large Senate member to determine the means for selecting volunteers from the faculty to fill these vacancies.
Changes in the Board of Trustees committees and changes in their membership, including faculty membership, are made by the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities
Faculty members of Board of Trustees committees are expected to fully participate in the business of the committee. They should attend every meeting of the committee and report back to the At-Large member of Senate with a summary of the meeting. These summaries will be included in the Faculty Senate minutes.
Membership
Each Board of Trustees committee will have at least one non-voting faculty member. If agreed upon by the chair of the Board of Trustees committee and the chair of Committee on Committees, there can be more than one member.
Faculty members of Board of Trustees committees are volunteers and are not a part of the faculty slate. Efforts should be made to fill every Board of Trustees committee vacancy, however, if the Chair of Committee on Committees and the At-Large member of Senate agree that there are no volunteers for a Board of Trustees committee, that position will remain vacant until the next semester.
Term
Governance Committee - 1 year term (generally filled by the At-Large member of Senate)
All other committees - 2 year term.
