SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research and Creativity Experience) Coordinator

Report to:  Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA)

Senior Coordinator Position:

Course release/teaching load:  One course release per semester; 18 credits regular load per academic year (fall and spring semesters).  Unless negotiated otherwise, the regular load is spread equally over both semesters (e.g., 3 credit hours per semester). 

   Summer stipend: In amount to be determined by the VPAA.

Junior Coordinator Position:

  Semester stipend: In amount to be determined by the VPAA.

  Summer stipend: In amount to be determined by the VPAA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Generally, the Senior Coordinator is training the Junior Coordinator to become the next Senior Coordinator. The Senior Co-Coordinator is responsible for mentoring the Junior Co-Coordinator, and teaching them all aspects of the SURE Program.
  • Lead the planning and execution of the SURE program.
  • Promote and advertise SURE to both students and faculty in conjunction with the Marketing Office.
  • Call for proposals from faculty, call for student applications, review and select faculty proposals for inclusion, and convene ad hoc committee of faculty and administrators to review student applications for selection of SURE participants.
  • Archive SURE research abstracts and presentations.
  • Coordinate with Residence Life to secure summer housing for SURE students.
  • Facilitate the SURE program during the summer academic sessions, including academic and non-academic events.
  • Manage the SURE budget.
  • Mentor the next Coordinator at the conclusion of service in the position.
