Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison (HLPI) Academic Director
Reports to: Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs
Course release/teaching load: One course release per semester; 18 credits regular load per academic year (fall and spring semesters). Unless negotiated otherwise, the regular load is psread equally over both semesters (e.g., 3 courses or 9 credits per semester)
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- In collaboration with the Hudson Link Academic Coordinator (HLAC) for Shawangunk Correctional Facility, assist prospective students in assessing whether they meet admission requirements of the college and qualify for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Federal Pell grant funding prior to program enrollment.
- Work with the HLAC and the MSMC Registrar for necessary portions of the Program for MSMC students incarcerated at the Shawangunk Correctional Facility.
- Advise students, in collaboration with the HLAC who arranges and schedules all facility site visits, and handles all communication with DOCCS and the Facility for the MSMC Director.
- Act as a liaison for Shawangunk students for academic Standards Committee requests.
- Mentor the next Director at the conclusion of service in the position.
