ED 5512 SUPPORTING LITERACY IN THE CONTENT AREAS ACROSS THE DAY
This course provides teaching skills necessary to support learners constructing meaning from literacy materials in the content areas from preK to grade 12. Emphasis is placed on research-supported methods for motivating learners, for teaching and assessing listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary development, word identification, study strategies, and writing. Alternative approaches to organizing literacy instruction to enhance learning content area material across the day and for developing learner interest for learners with and without disabilities and multilingual learners will be considered. Fieldwork is required.
