ED 5505 CHILDREN'S AND ADOLESCENT LITERATURE (BIRTH TO GRADE 12)
This is a comprehensive study of various forms of literature for children and adolescents (Birth to Grade 12). It will include evaluation and selection of books with regard to needs and interests of elementary, middle and secondary school readers, curriculum applications, and story-telling techniques. Ways to reach diverse learners, including those with disabilities and Multilingual learners will be addressed. Books will be critically examined from the vantage point of their representation of the variety and multicultural perspectives that constitute the national and world communities, and whether or not the books accurately and appropriately portray the people and cultural aspects represented in them.
