ED 5044 RESEARCH IN LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT BIRTH TO GRADE 12

This course examines the nature of child and adolescent development. Teacher candidates will learn how biological, cognitive, cultural, socioeconomic, and other contexts influence children as they grow to maturity. Creating a safe and nurturing environment in schools in the face of such challenges as poverty, substance abuse, bullying, and social media will be addressed. Candidates will also learn about the importance of productive relationships and interactions among the school, home, and community for enhancing student growth and learning. Fieldwork is required.
