Documentation of Scholarly Activities

Depending on the expectations for the respective ranks, evidence of scholarly activities may include funded and non-funded research, peer reviewed journal articles, publication of textbooks or chapters to books, paper presentations, reviewer for academic or professional journals and textbooks, clinical practice in the service professions, or professional performances and other creative work.

  • Funded/Non-funded Research: Funded research includes grants and projects awarded to the faculty candidate. The agencies underwriting the grants and/or projects, the dollar amounts of the award etc. may be listed. Non-funded research carried out by the candidate may also be described and documented, including feasibility studies and proposals for new academic programs, accreditation reports, etc.
  • Peer Reviewed Journal Articles: Title pages and abstracts of articles submitted to academic journals, peer reviewed and published may be included in this section.
  • Textbooks/Chapters: Title pages and bibliographic information of published texts and other works (chapter contributions) may be included here.
  • Paper Presentations: Title pages and abstracts of presentations at the Mount and at professional conferences, seminars and workshops may be submitted.  Documentation should include copies of or links to the conference programs where they presented.
  • Reviewer: Documentation of research paper/book reviews carried out for professional and academic journals, publishers etc. may be included.
  • Creative Presentations: Documentation of dates and places of creative presentations or performances, along with reviews of such activities (if available), may be included here.
  • Clinical Practice: Documentation of excellence in the clinical practice of one’s profession (other than teaching) may be included here such as the utilization of research to improve that practice.
  • Letters of Support: Reports of observations, solicited and unsolicited letters from faculty colleagues at the Mount and/or other Colleges/Universities supporting the candidate’s scholarly activities may be submitted.  Letters of support are only required for faculty applying for promotion.
