Qualifications for Appointment to Rank
The minimal academic qualifications for the various academic ranks are those listed below except that in certain specialized areas or in those fields in which the doctoral degree is not normally granted, where equivalent training or experience may be substituted for the doctorate.
The ranks of the library staff parallel the structure of the faculty ranks: librarian equivalent to professor, associate librarian equivalent to associate professor, and assistant librarian equivalent to assistant professor. The master’s degree in library science is the terminal degree in the field of librarianship.
