Healthcare Management and Administration, BS/MBA (5-Year Program)

The BS in Business Healthcare Management and Administration/General MBA program at the Mount is designed to prepare students for careers in diverse organizational settings by inculcating them with skills, abilities, and competencies that allow them to evaluate, communicate and solve healthcare business problems with ethical reasoning.

Students who complete the full, five-year course sequence will have experienced an integrated program, with a BS in healthcare management and a general MBA from their graduate studies, incorporating liberal arts strengths with contemporary business and healthcare management studies.

The undergraduate program provides students with the professional knowledge needed for key business disciplines, within the context of a comprehensive liberal arts education. Both the undergraduate and graduate business programs provide an internship and/or practicum experience that is largely experiential, involving work with organizational clients and requiring integration of the major business functional areas, including finance, law, marketing, management and accounting.

Undergraduate Business Healthcare Management students are eligible to declare the Healthcare Management 5-year BS/General MBA Track through the semester in which they have accrued 120 career credits or lower. It is important to note the minimum GPA requirement for admission into the MBA year. Upon the completion of 120 credits or lower, BS/MBA Track students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better, which, if not met, are then required to revert to the traditional 4-year BS degree in Business Healthcare Management and Administration (BS). Additionally, to qualify for the MBA Fifth Year, students must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better through graduation. Special circumstances are subject to review and discretion by the Dean, Chair, and/or Coordinator.

Mount Saint Mary College has received accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) Olathe, Kansas. IACBE is the premier business accreditation body for business programs in student-centered colleges and universities throughout the world. The IACBE accredits business degree programs at more than 225 colleges and universities in more than 20 countries. IACBE promotes and recognizes excellence in business education in colleges at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
