Home School Admissions Information
Mount Saint Mary College understands that home schooling is holistic educational experience for students. The Mount follows the New York State Commissioner of Education Regulations that are listed in section 100.10 of the regulations for Home Instruction.
Admissions Requirements for Home Schooled Students
- Submit an application
- Provide a copy of the Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) approved and signed by the home district, for each year of home instruction.
- Provide copies of the quarterly report narratives that were submitted to the home district for each year of study.
OR
Provide a transcript of subjects completed with suggested grades for each course.
Enrollment Requirements
All students who intend to enroll at Mount Saint Mary College are required to submit official documentation of successful competition of high school including proof of high school graduation. Home school students may meet this requirement in one of two different ways:
- Submit an official letter signed by the home district superintendent indicating completion of all high school requirements.
OR
- Students may opt to take the General Educational Development (GED) Test and submit an official GED score report.
*New York State residents who enroll in an online/correspondence high school program of study are not considered home school students according to the New York State Department of Education and do have a different set of requirements for admission and enrollment.
