Admissions Application Procedure
Under our rolling admission policy, applications for admission are evaluated as soon as all credentials have been received by the Office of Admission. Students are notified of a decision after the following materials are received by Admissions:
Required
- A completed application for admission
- The applicant's official high school transcript or evidence of successful achievement in the High School Equivalency Examination
- If any break occurred between high school graduation and the student enrolling at Mount Saint Mary College, a gap statement providing details about what the student did during their break in their education is required
Recommended
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor
- Personal statement or essay
First-year freshman candidates are encouraged to apply to Mount Saint Mary College. The application for admission opens on August 1st.
The Office of Admission reserves the right to request additional information from an applicant. A candidate may be asked to submit a record of schoolwork taken during the first half of the senior year, as well as any supplementary documentation we feel may be necessary to make an informed holistic admission decision.
A deposit of $250 for resident students, or $150 for commuter students, is required to reserve a place in our entering class. This deposit is credited to the student's account for the first semester (for resident students, a portion of the deposit is reserved for room damage and will be refunded to the student when they no longer reside in the residence halls and rooms have been free of damage). Deposits are refundable provided the Office of Admission receives written notice of intention not to attend Mount Saint Mary College on or before May 1.
