Reduction in Workload

Faculty may be given a reduction in their teaching load for an additional assignment such as appointment to Division/Department Chair, Graduate Coordinator, Academic Program Director/Coordinator, or Faculty Senate Chair as described elsewhere in this document. The VPAA may also allow a reduced load for other extraordinary circumstances or assignments.

Faculty who direct College centers and institutes may be granted course release in lieu of additional compensation.
Faculty who have secured external funding to pursue scholarship related to their discipline may receive up to a two-course release each semester provided that the grant funding compensates the College based upon the faculty member’s salary (i.e. a one-course release each semester would require compensation of one-quarter of the faculty member’s salary). The amount of the grant and the source and duration of funding will be taken into consideration in determining compensation to the College.
