EXS 3250 KINESIOLOGY

This course will examine the structure and function of the human body as it relates specifically to human movement in health, sport, disease and aging. Introductory lessons will focus on universal anatomical terminology and the fundamental biomechanical principles. This will be followed by detailed analysis of musculoskeletal, articular, and neural functional organization of each body region as well as whole body movement integration. Specific movement adaptations as a result of injury, disease, or age will also be explored. Laboratory activities will focus on hands on model identification as well as identification through palpation of surface muscular skeletal landmarks, functional testing of muscle and joint activity, and assessment of stability and strength of muscle. Whole body therapeutic techniques will also be explored as part of the "Exercise is Medicine on Campus" initiative course integration.
