NUR 3025 QUALITY AND SAFETY IN HEALTHCARE

This course explores patient safety and quality of care in clinical practice, emphasizing just culture, high reliability, and systems-based strategies to reduce errors. Students will apply the six QSEN competencies, differentiate between Quality Improvement (QI) and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and analyze healthcare errors to foster a culture of safety. Mindfulness techniques will be introduced for self-care and enhancing patient empathy. The course also examines key organizational traits that sustain patient safety initiatives and applies quality improvement models to real-world healthcare settings. This course is offered for students in the RN-BSN program only.
