NUR 5210 ADVANCED ADULT HEALTH NURSING I

This is the first in a sequence of two courses that explores, at an advanced level, the pathophysiology, assessment, diagnosis, and collaborative management of selected episodic/chronic health problems in primary care. This includes problems associated with aging, cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, renal and ophthalmologic as well as psychosocial needs. Each student demonstrates his or her ability to analyze, integrate, and synthesize pathophysiologic concepts for collaborative management of health problems across the lifespan; Case study analyses, formal paper and didactic content examination satisfy course goals. This course centers on current theories, practice and research central to advanced knowledge and practice in nursing care of adults across the lifespan as nurse practitioners. The course emphasis will be on research-based nursing interventions concerned with primary, secondary and tertiary care of individuals in these client populations.
