REL 2062 GOSPELS OF MATTHEW, MARK & LUKE

This course will look at the life of Jesus through the eyes and theology of the authors of the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke (the Synoptic Gospels).  After a brief introduction to the study of scripture, the nature of a gospel, and the themes of the Synoptics, the course will compare the similarities and differences of the Synoptics including passages unique to each.  Historical background, archaeology, textual criticism, the spiritual senses of scripture, and the application of the text to one’s life will be discussed.

For Theology/Religious Studies Majors, completion of REL 1050 (Introduction to Biblical Studies) is recommended.
