ENG 2016 FROM FOSSILS TO FRANKENSTEIN
This interdisciplinary study abroad course explores the intertwined history of science and literature. Moving between New York and London—two global centers of innovation—students will trace how fossils, geology, and Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution transformed humanity’s understanding of nature, inspired new kinds of storytelling and how writers in turn, reimagined the possibilities of knowledge, evidence, and creation. Designed for students from all majors, the course combines site-based learning, reflection, and discussion to reveal how the search for truth—whether through fossils or fiction—continues to shape our understanding of the world.
