SCI 2020 SCIENCE IN MEDICINE
This course will provide students with a chance to explore the interdisciplinary relationship between chemistry, biochemistry, and human health. Various historically and medicinally important atoms and molecules will be investigated. Topics discussed will include the use of chlorine gas in WWI, the role of grain and wood alcohol during Prohibition, and other natural products and their role in medicine and science. All atoms and molecules will be looked at from both a chemical and biological aspect as well as a medicinal aspect as to their effects on the body and the harm they can cause.
