Academic Warning

Students will be issued an Academic Warning when the semester GPA falls below 2.0 for one semester. Students on Academic Warning will be limited to no more than 13 credits in the semester that follows, and until the warning is removed. This limitation is to ensure students can increase their academic success and progress towards graduation. Students are limited to 13 total credits taken at Mount Saint Mary College and other institutions. Students on Academic Warning will not be allowed to transfer credits to the Mount to a total of greater than 13 total credits for the semester they are on Academic Warning without permission from the Academic Standards Committee. All first semester freshmen placed on Academic Warning will be required to take a one-credit academic skills course the subsequent semester that would be a one credit course; a student remains on Academic Warning until they pass this course. Note – the one (1) credit for the academic skills course does not count towards the 13 credit limit. Any time a student's cumulative GPA is under 2.0, the student will be on Academic Warning.
