MUS 4025 OPERA IN NEW YORK

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the development of opera from the early seventeenth century through the twentieth century. We will watch and listen to representative operas from each style period and discuss lives of the great opera composers and explore various artistic elements that combine to create this unique art form. During this course, the class will travel to New York several times to see operas presented by the New York City and Metropolitan Operas.
