CRI 3550 WOMEN AND CRIME

This course examines criminology and criminal justice issues as they relate specifically to women. Major areas of coverage include (1) women and girls as victims of crime; (2) women and girls as criminal offenders; and, (3) women working in the criminal justice system. This course will also include a study of the nature and extent of women's crimes; theories of female criminality; processing of women offenders through the criminal justice system; the response of police, court officials, corrections to female offenders and victims; societal responses to women as victims of crime; and, opportunities for women as employees in criminal justice agencies.
