Nursing, BS

A major in nursing prepares the graduate to take the NCLEX-RN for licensure as a Registered Nurse and to begin practice in a variety of health care settings. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing/master’s degree program in nursing and post-graduate APRN certificate program at Mount Saint Mary College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

Program Requirements for the Nursing Major

All NUR and HLT courses must be taken at Mount Saint Mary College. Students must obtain at least a C+ in all NUR and HLT courses and a C or higher in all BIO and CHM courses. Students may repeat one of the first year science courses (BIO 1030, BIO 1040, CHM 1080) if they receive a grade less than C. The repeated course must be completed with a grade of C or higher by July 31st for continuation into the sophomore year courses. Students who do not meet the required grade (C+) in one NUR or HLT course may repeat that course on a space available basis. A second NUR or HLT grade less than C+ will result in removal from the Nursing major. Nursing students must demonstrate proficiency in clinical calculations each clinical semester. Additional program requirements are available in the Undergraduate Nursing Student Handbook.
