REL 4800 SENIOR SEMINAR I
Senior Seminar I in a student’s final year includes the review of key texts within the life of the Church. These texts, some of which will have been covered in other foundational and higher-level courses in the Major, will be read as a unique culmination of the student’s new degree expertise.
The selected texts will also serve the purpose of key research materials for the Senior Thesis involved in Senior Seminar II. The selection of texts will reflect the breadth and depth of theological conversation over the course of three millennia, including but not limited to the Stoic Philosophers, Plato, Aristotle, the Patristics, Boethius, Augustine of Hippo, Thomas Aquinas, Dante Alighieri, Mystics and Counter-Reformation, Henry Cardinal Newman, Odo Casel, G.K. Chesterton, Vatican II, Hans Urs von Balthasar, John Paul II, and Joseph Ratzinger.
The student must achieve a minimum of a “C” average as a prerequisite of Senior Seminar II.
