NUR 3800 NURSING CARE OF FAMILIES

This course focuses on the role of the nurse in meeting the physiological, psychosocial, cultural and developmental needs of the family in transition which includes the maternal and child client and family.  Course content includes antepartal, intrapartal, and postpartal care, complications of pregnancy, newborn care, human growth and development, pediatric anatomy and physiology review, medical terminology, and critical thinking. Upon completion of this course students will be able to provide and manage care for maternal pediatric clients in a variety of settings.  The nursing process and Gordon's Functional Health Patterns are the basis for clinical decision making.
