ED 5245 CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT IN 7-12 ENGLISH

Students will understand the progression of New York State standards and national standards from the intermediate level to the commencement level in English in grades 7 through 12. Implications for instruction and assessment will be expanded in lesson planning through the concepts of curriculum mapping, the spiral curriculum, essential questions, and alternate forms of curriculum design. Candidates will learn how to interpret different types of results from standardized tests and demonstrate the ability to explain test results to parents. They will also explore how to create, analyze, adapt, and implement multiple forms of assessment. This course is designed to develop content pedagogy. Fieldwork is required.
