HIS 1110 MEN AND MOVEMENT- STALIN
This course will seek to examine an important totalitarian dictator of the twentieth century. The course will concentrate on the rise, career, and the fall, or death of this man. In particular, emphasis will be placed on the parallels in the rise to power and careers of totalitarian contemporaries; for example, how each might be considered a revolutionary, yet also a very pragmatic person. The course will also seek to examine the failure of the democratic system, both within the dictator's country and the world powers of the time, to offer serious opposition to the rise of totalitarianism.
